This was also a response on facebook to a poet, this time Jenny Jumble who wrote about her concerns that that mirror over her bed might one day fall off. Of course I had to ask if she’d considered the mirrors feelings.
What about the feelings
that the mirror might have had
if it ever lost its mountings,
do you think it’s just that mad?
It would really much rather hang there
reflecting back as you prepare
your makeup for your night out on the town.
But if you consider its perplextion
as you stare at your reflection
maybe tomorrow you’ll not worry,
that it will fall off in a hurry
Because I’m sure it will still be there
waiting for you to dry and brush your hair,
I’m sure its not out to kill you at all.
